Caring

Rich cared about others. We recently lost our niece, Christina, to Cystic Fibrosis. Fundraising for a cure was a part of our life. Rich participated in the walks by getting pledges/donations and putting candy boxes at dealerships and auto related businesses. One particular year the ladies in the family put together a cookbook. Rich took a case of cookbooks to one dealership where he was particularly well connected and every employee bought one before they received their paycheck. Rich’s giving nature went beyond family. He bought a van at auction that had a wheelchair lift in it. He had it removed and reinstalled in the van of a friend’s daughter who had a wheelchair bound child, someone Rich had never met. When he was told by his employer that he could not accept a turkey given to him during the holiday it was packaged it in a basket with all the trimmings and Rich delivered it to the first church he came to. Another time Rich gave a car and money to a family to get back home after their Florida business venture had failed.
